La Grande Bellezza
La Grande Bellezza
La Grande Bellezza is a beautifully shot film, with every frame scenically portraying the natural beauty of Italy’s society and culture. The film follows Jep Gambardella, a 65 years young writer on his search for “The Great Beauty”. Throughout the film, the luxurious depiction of Italy’s high society becomes washed away as the audience is revealed to the true, corrupted colours of this elite culture, later juxtaposed with surreal-like, lucid imagery. This outfit was inspired by the innocence that is left after seeing through that corruption, with details depicting the figurative and literal feelings, colours and characters seen throughout the film.
Fayann was chosen as one of the top 5 from 20+ entries to make the submitted garment designs inspired by the award winning movie. The garments were presented during the closing party for the Italian Contemporary Film Festival. Click below for the photos from the event!
Fayann was chosen as one of the Top 6 finalists in the competition to create the illustrated garment. It was presented at a chocolate gala on April 9th 2014 and crowned the WINNER, hosted by Jeanne Beker (host of Bell Media's FashionTelevisionChannel) and Ann Czaja, (Lindt Master Chocolatier).
The Lindt Chocolate Fashion Design Competition asked fashion design students to design a dress based on one of the chocolates in the Lindt Swiss Luxury Selection of Chocolate. She designed a dress based on the "Carre de Stracciatella", a "heavenly combination - Crunchy cocoa bits and cookie chunks in an aromatic filling coated with white and dark chocolate" (Lindt.com).
“Coventina” derives from the Celtic word for “water goddess”. This evening wear dress was inspired by the beautful textures seen in water rapids and flowing waves. the dress is constructed as a polyester-lyrca blend mini dress with a single slit detail, with organza panels cascading from all vertical seams. Each panel has hand sewn tulle and organza petals along the hem to mimic the texture of water rapids and hand beaded lace appliques along the top bodice to represent the shimmery details of crisp water.
"Coventina" was featured in the 2013 Wearable Art Show. Here are some pictures from the show:
